Collection: ProRack Cases

The ProRack is Peli's lightweight, shallow-rack portable case for applications where the priority is a small, easy-to-carry enclosure rather than a high-level shock-isolation system. The smooth rotomolded polyethylene shell houses an 18-inch (46 cm) deep 19-inch EIA-standard rack frame — the shallowest standard rack depth available in the Peli portfolio — and opens from both front and rear, giving access to equipment panels and cable connectors without removing the case from a shelf or trolley. There are no internal shock mounts; the ProRack is designed for solid-state equipment that does not require mechanical vibration isolation, and the absence of shock mounts reduces both weight and cost.

Typical Use Cases

The ProRack is widely used in AV presentation and conferencing: a 4U ProRack holding a media player, a signal scaler, and a wireless receiver system can be checked in as airline luggage or stowed in the overhead bin of a business-class aircraft. Touring musicians and DJs use ProRack cases for effects processors, sync generators, and MIDI controllers that don't need shock protection but do need to arrive with their panel controls intact. In the IT field, network engineers carry ProRack cases containing patch panels, managed switches, and small UPS units for temporary site installations. The front-and-rear access is particularly valued in training rooms and temporary offices where the case sits on a tabletop and both the presenter (front) and the AV technician (rear) need simultaneous access.

Weight Advantage and Capacity

Because the ProRack omits the shock mount hardware, it is appreciably lighter than equivalent-U-size shock-isolated cases. A 6U ProRack fully loaded with up to 34 kg of solid-state equipment remains within airline carry-on or checked-baggage weight limits depending on the equipment selection. Available in 4U, 6U, 8U, 9U, and 14U configurations; the 14U version is particularly popular with touring production companies that need a single-case solution for mixing-console outboard and digital effects units.
