DJI Air 3S

Which Peli Case for DJI Mavic 4 Pro, Air 3S and Mini 4 Pro? 9 Configurations That Actually Fit (TrekPak, Dividers, Lid Organisers) 🚁

Every DJI drone ships in a box that is perfect for one thing: getting the drone from the warehouse to your door. Then you buy a Fly More Combo, a set of ND filters, a second controller, a landing pad and, three months later, a mirrorless camera to go with it, and the box is useless. The question we hear most from drone pilots is not which Peli but which Peli with what inside, because a hard case with the wrong interior is just a heavier box. 🚁

This guide gives nine configurations we have actually built or sold for the three drones most European pilots fly in 2026: the DJI Mini 4 Pro, the DJI Air 3S and the DJI Mavic 4 Pro. It is built around two cases, the Peli 1510 and the Peli Air 1535, with the Air 1605 and 1607 for pilots who carry more than one aircraft, and around three interior systems: TrekPak dividers, padded divider sets and lid organisers. We say up front that we rarely recommend cut foam for drones, and we explain why. We sell everything mentioned here, so read it as a dealer's opinion with the reasoning shown.

First, why not foam?

Pick N Pluck or laser-cut foam gives the tightest fit a case can offer, and for a single object that never changes, a satellite phone, a surveying instrument, a thermal camera, it is the right answer. Drones are the opposite of an object that never changes. You add a battery, swap the RC 2 for an RC Pro 2, buy a second drone, take the camera on some trips and not others. Every one of those changes means a new foam cut, and a foam interior cut for a Mini 4 Pro is dead weight the day you buy an Air 3S.

Dividers and organisers solve that. A TrekPak interior is a grid of rigid panels you cut once to the case and reposition with pins in seconds; a padded divider set is a fabric tray with hook-and-loop walls you move by hand; a lid organiser is a set of zipped pouches on the inside of the lid for the flat, loose things that otherwise rattle around: cables, filters, spare props, batteries. Between them you can rebuild the same case for a Mini, an Air, a Mavic, or all three, without buying anything else. We compare the three systems in detail in foam, dividers or TrekPak; here we apply them to specific drones.

The three drones, in the numbers that matter for packing

Drone Folded size (approx.) Take-off weight Battery (approx.) What a Fly More kit adds
Mini 4 Pro 15 x 9.5 x 6.5 cm under 250 g around 19 Wh (larger Plus battery available) 3 batteries, charging hub, RC 2 or RC-N2, ND set, bag
Air 3S 21.5 x 10 x 9 cm around 720 g around 63 Wh 3 batteries, charging hub, RC 2 or RC-N3, ND set, bag
Mavic 4 Pro 26 x 12.5 x 10.5 cm around 1,060 g around 95 Wh, just under the 100 Wh airline line 3 batteries, charging hub, RC 2 or RC Pro 2, ND set, bag

Figures are rounded from DJI's published specifications; check your own battery label before flying, because the watt-hour figure is what security reads. The three cases that matter have these usable interiors: the Peli 1510 about 50 x 28 x 19 cm, the Peli Air 1535 about 52 x 28 x 18 cm, and the Air 1607 a wider, deeper body of roughly 53 x 39 x 23 cm. The Air 1605 sits between them. All three cabin-sized cases fit the 55 x 40 x 23 cm format most European airlines accept; the 1607 is a checked-baggage or vehicle case.

The 9 configurations

1. Mini 4 Pro Fly More in a Peli 1510 with a 4-pouch lid organiser 🪶

The Mini is small enough that the challenge is not fitting it but stopping it moving. In a 1510 with the padded divider set, the drone sits in one walled compartment with the RC 2 beside it and the charging hub behind, and the 4-pouch mesh lid organiser takes the three batteries, one per pouch with the terminals covered, plus the ND filters and cables. Half the base is still empty, which is the point: this is the configuration for a pilot who will add a camera, a gimbal or a second drone next year and does not want to buy another case when they do. If you only ever fly a Mini and want something smaller, the Peli 1450 with its TrekPak kit is the compact alternative, but it will not grow with you.

2. Mini 4 Pro plus a mirrorless camera in a Peli Air 1535 with TrekPak 📷

The hybrid creator's kit: a Mini 4 Pro, a mirrorless body, two or three lenses, a microphone and the drone's controller in one cabin case. This is where TrekPak in the Air 1535 earns its price. The rigid panels let you build a snug slot for the drone with its arms folded, a taller slot for the body with a lens mounted, and narrow lanes for the other lenses, all in one layout that you can redraw for the next trip. The lid takes a mesh organiser for batteries, cards and filters. Under 4 kg empty, the Air 1535 leaves the most weight for gear on an 8 kg cabin allowance of any Peli cabin case.

3. Air 3S Fly More in a Peli 1510 with padded dividers 🎒

The Air 3S with three batteries, an RC 2, a charging hub and filters is the kit most weekend pilots actually carry, and the 1510 padded divider set is the fastest interior to live with. The drone goes in a central compartment, the controller in a second, the hub in a third, and the hook-and-loop walls move in seconds when you swap the RC 2 for an RC Pro 2. Add the mesh lid pouch organiser and the batteries are in the lid, separated, visible and in the cabin with you. The 1510 is heavier than the 1535 and has the thicker Protector shell; it is the case that has survived two decades of professional abuse, and for a pilot who does not fly commercially, the weight is rarely a problem.

4. Air 3S plus a laptop in a Peli Air 1535 with the 14 to 16 inch lid organiser 💻

Working pilots edit on the road. The 14 to 16 inch laptop lid organiser turns the lid of a 1535 or 1510 into a padded laptop sleeve with pockets for the charger, drives and cables, and the base takes the Air 3S in TrekPak or dividers. One case for the whole job: aircraft, batteries, controller and the machine you deliver the footage from. The 13 inch version does the same for smaller machines.

5. Mavic 4 Pro Fly More in a Peli Air 1535 with TrekPak 🛩️

The Mavic 4 Pro is the biggest of the three and the one people worry about. Folded it is around 26 cm long, and with the RC Pro 2 laid flat the two of them take most of the width of a 1535 side by side, with the three batteries, hub and ND set arranged in TrekPak lanes around them. It fits, it fits comfortably, and the case stays cabin size. The only planning point is the batteries: at around 95 Wh each they are just under the 100 Wh threshold that most airlines apply to spare lithium batteries without approval, so three of them travel in the cabin without paperwork, but they must be in the cabin and they must have the terminals protected. The lid organiser pouches do that automatically.

6. Two drones, Mavic 4 Pro and Air 3S, in a Peli Air 1605 with TrekPak 🛩️🛩️

Pilots who fly a Mavic for the main camera and an Air for the tight spaces need more floor than a cabin case offers, and the Peli Air 1605 with its TrekPak kit is the case we configure most often for it. Two aircraft, two controllers, six batteries, two hubs and filters in one layout, still light enough to carry by hand. It is a checked or vehicle case, so the batteries come out into a small case or the lid pouches of a cabin bag for the flight; we come back to that in configuration 9.

7. Mavic 4 Pro plus a full camera kit in a Peli Air 1607 🎥

When the drone is one tool among several, a gimbal, a cinema camera, lights, monitors, the Peli Air 1607 is the deep, wide body that takes it all standing up. Its depth means lenses and the drone can sit vertically in divider lanes, which saves floor space, and the wheels and handle make it a rolling location kit. We configure the 1607 interior to the kit on request, with dividers or TrekPak, and this is the one case in the list where a customer with a fixed, professional kit sometimes chooses cut foam, because that kit does not change from job to job.

8. FPV or Inspire-class aircraft in a Peli Air 1637 🏁

Not a DJI Mini, Air or Mavic, but the question always follows: what about an Avata 2 with goggles and motion controller, or an Inspire 3? The Peli Air 1637 is the deep case for it, with the height for goggles and the footprint for an Inspire body with arms folded. Dividers rather than foam again, because FPV kits change faster than any other category. Whether an FPV rig is the right purchase in the first place is covered in FPV vs camera drone.

9. The battery question: where they go on a flight 🔋

Every configuration above puts the batteries where airlines require them for the flight itself: in the cabin, terminals protected, never in checked baggage. For cabin cases, the lid organiser pouches are the mechanism; for the 1605 and 1607, which fly in the hold, the batteries come out before check-in and go into a small Peli 1200 or 1150 or into the pouches of whatever cabin case is with you. Power banks follow the same rule. The thresholds, 100 Wh without approval and 100 to 160 Wh with airline approval and a limit of two, are explained in our power bank guide, and the full airport procedure for a drone, including what security asks, is in how to transport a drone by plane.

1510 or Air 1535 for a drone?

The two cabin cases share a footprint and take the same lid organisers, and the choice comes down to weight and shell. The 1510 is the polypropylene copolymer Protector, heavier at roughly 5.4 kg with foam and about a kilogram less without, with the thicker shell and the longer track record; the Air 1535 is the HPX² resin case at 3.95 kg empty with the same IP67 seal and the same latches. For a pilot who flies commercial routes with an 8 kg allowance, the 1535 leaves roughly a kilogram more for gear. For a pilot who drives to locations and wants the toughest possible box, the 1510 is the classic. Both take the 1510 and 1535 TrekPak kits, padded divider sets and every lid organiser we sell, so nothing in the nine configurations depends on which one you choose. The full comparison is in Peli 1510 vs Peli Air 1535.

Packing a drone case for a flight: the short checklist ✅

  1. Batteries out of the drone and the controller, in lid pouches or a small case, terminals covered, in the cabin.
  2. Gimbal cover on, propellers folded or removed, arms folded and seated in their compartment so nothing presses on the gimbal.
  3. Controller sticks removed and stored in the pouch DJI provides; screen face up against a padded wall.
  4. ND filters in their box, in a lid pouch, not loose in a lane.
  5. Nothing touching the shell directly; a divider or pouch between every item and the outside.
  6. Case within the airline's cabin dimensions including wheels and handle, and under the weight limit with everything in it.
  7. Drone registration and operator ID printed or on the phone, because security sometimes asks; the rules are in drone laws in Europe 2026.

The mistakes that end trips, from batteries in the hold to drones confiscated at the border, are in 11 drone travel mistakes, and the accessories worth adding to any of the nine configurations are in 10 drone accessories actually worth the money.

Frequently asked questions

Does a DJI Mavic 4 Pro fit in a Peli Air 1535?

Yes, folded, with the RC Pro 2 beside it and three batteries, the hub and filters around them in TrekPak lanes or padded dividers. The case stays within cabin dimensions.

Does a DJI Air 3S Fly More Combo fit in a Peli 1510?

Yes, with room to spare. Padded dividers for the drone, controller and hub, and a lid organiser for the three batteries and the ND set, leave about a third of the base free.

Which Peli for a DJI Mini 4 Pro?

The 1510 or Air 1535 if you plan to add a camera or a bigger drone later; the 1450 with a TrekPak kit if the Mini is all you will ever carry.

Why not cut foam for a drone?

Because drone kits change, and foam does not. Dividers and lid organisers rebuild for a new drone, a new controller or a camera in minutes; foam has to be cut again. Foam is right for a fixed professional kit in a 1607 that never changes.

Can I check a Peli case with a drone inside?

The drone body, yes. The batteries, no: they must come out and travel in the cabin with the terminals protected. Lid organiser pouches or a small Peli 1200 are the usual way to carry them.

Are Mavic 4 Pro batteries allowed on a plane?

At around 95 Wh they are under the 100 Wh limit that most airlines apply to spare lithium batteries without approval, so they travel in the cabin without paperwork. Check the label on your own battery and your airline's current rules.

The short version

Buy the case once and change the interior, not the case. A Peli 1510 or Air 1535 with TrekPak or padded dividers and a lid organiser carries a Mini 4 Pro today, an Air 3S next year and a Mavic 4 Pro with a camera after that, and fits in the cabin every time. The Air 1605 takes two aircraft, the 1607 takes a drone inside a full camera kit, and the 1637 takes FPV and Inspire-class rigs. Batteries in the lid, in the cabin, terminals covered, and the rest is flying. 🌍
