Battery for Peli RALS 9430, 9480, 9490
Hurry up, only 6 items left in stock.
When a Peli RALS lighting tower stops holding its charge, the fault is almost never the lamp head or the electronics — it is the battery inside, quietly losing capacity after years of charge and discharge cycles. This is the genuine sealed lead-acid (SLA) gel battery module that brings a Peli RALS 9430, 9480 or 9490 back to its original runtime, at a fraction of the cost of a complete new Powerpack. It is the internal gel battery only, not the full Powerpack assembly.
What This Battery Is — and What It Is Not
This is the original 12V 20Ah sealed lead-acid gel cell fitted to the Peli RALS 9430, 9480 and 9490 systems. The SLA gel chemistry is maintenance-free and fully sealed: there is no liquid electrolyte to top up, no venting of fumes, and no risk of acid leakage even if the unit is transported on its side. That makes it well suited to the rough, mobile life a Remote Area Lighting System leads — bouncing in the back of a response vehicle, stored for months between deployments, then expected to perform on the first switch-on.
Please note: this listing is the battery module on its own. It is not the complete Powerpack base of the 9480 or 9490, and it is not the lamp head. If your RALS unit will not power on at all, or if the charging electronics are at fault, the battery alone may not resolve the issue — contact our team and we will help you identify the right part.
Why Replace the Battery Instead of the Whole Unit
A Peli RALS is built to last well over a decade. The LED array, the telescopic mast, the impact-resistant housing and the charging circuitry are all engineered for a long service life. The one component that ages on a predictable schedule is the battery, and an SLA gel cell will gradually lose usable capacity whether it is worked hard or left on standby. Swapping in a fresh module restores:
- Full rated runtime on a single charge, equivalent to the original factory specification of the lamp.
- Stable voltage output across the entire discharge cycle, so brightness does not fade as the night goes on.
- Reliable cold-weather and high-vibration performance, the conditions in which a tired battery is most likely to let you down.
- Full compatibility with the original Peli charger, with no change to your existing charging routine.
Installation — Basic Tools Required
This battery is designed for user replacement, but it is not a tool-free swap. You will need basic hand tools to open the battery compartment and seat the new module correctly. Disconnect the unit from charge, open the compartment, disconnect and remove the spent cell, then fit the replacement, observing the original polarity and cable routing. If you are not comfortable working inside the unit, our service centre can carry out the replacement for you — ask before ordering.
Built for the Field
Peli RALS units are deployed where light is mission-critical and mains power is absent: disaster recovery sites, night-time infrastructure repairs, search-and-rescue staging areas, military and civil-defence operations. In those settings a spare, fully charged battery on the shelf is the difference between continuous illumination and a tower that goes dark mid-shift. Keeping an original module in reserve lets field crews extend working hours without returning to base to recharge.
