Peli EURO-V 6U-L Rack Case — Professional Transport Protection for 19-Inch Equipment
The Peli EURO-V 6U-L is a heavy-duty rotomoulded transport case engineered for the safe deployment and field storage of 19-inch EIA rack-mounted equipment. With a 762 mm (30") internal rack depth, it accommodates full-depth servers, amplifiers, signal processors, and mission-critical electronics that demand uncompromising mechanical protection during road, air, and maritime transport. Manufactured entirely in Germany, the EURO-V 6U-L is trusted by broadcast engineers, military communications teams, touring audio-visual crews, and IT infrastructure specialists worldwide.
Technical Specifications
Rack Configuration
The integrated steel rack frame follows the EIA 19-inch standard with a square-hole pattern that accepts industry-standard M6 clip nuts (sold separately), enabling tool-free panel swaps in the field. The 6U configuration provides six standard rack units of space — a common footprint for compact server nodes, digital audio workstations, or multi-channel communications kits. The Long variant ("L") offers an internal rack depth of 762 mm (30"), catering to full-depth 1U servers, power distribution units, and deep chassis modules. The companion EURO-V 6U-S provides a shorter 610 mm (24") rack depth for lighter or shallower payloads.
Shell and Hardware
The outer shell is constructed from rotomoulded polyethylene — the same impact-absorbing, chemically inert plastic used across Peli's professional case range. The material resists UV degradation, petroleum products, and most solvents, making it suitable for prolonged outdoor or industrial use. All exterior hardware — hinges, clasps, and anchor points — is manufactured from black oxide stainless steel, providing long-term corrosion resistance. Eight ergonomic black plastic handles distributed around the case perimeter allow two-person carries on heavy loads and single-hand lifts for lighter configurations.
Sealing and Environmental Protection
A continuous silicone sponge O-ring gasket runs the full perimeter of the lid interface, creating a weatherproof seal that blocks dust ingress and moisture infiltration during outdoor operations. The integrated pressure relief valve (PRV) automatically equalises internal pressure during air transport, preventing case deformation and lid-seal stress when flying at altitude. This combination ensures reliable environmental protection across the full transport cycle — from loading dock to high-altitude cargo hold and back.
Shock and Vibration Isolation
The steel rack frame is suspended inside the shell via cylindrical wall-mounted shock mounts, mechanically decoupling sensitive electronics from the vibration and impact energy transmitted through the case walls during transport. This internal isolation system is critical for equipment with rotating media, analogue signal chains, or precision connectors that are vulnerable to vibration-induced damage or premature wear. The shock mount geometry is tuned for the typical mass range of 6U rack configurations, delivering consistent isolation across road, rail, and air transport scenarios.
Mobility and Field Handling
The EURO-V 6U-L is equipped with integrated edge casters mounted at the base corners, enabling single-operator wheeled transport across flat surfaces — essential in large venues, data centres, or broadcast facilities where manual carries over long distances are impractical. Moulded stacking ribs on the lid and base provide a stable interlock when multiple EURO-V cases are stacked vertically, preventing lateral shifting during transit and storage. The rib geometry is compatible across the full EURO-V family (4U, 5U, 6U and other rack heights), enabling mixed-configuration stacks on standard pallets.
Typical Applications
Broadcast and Live Event Production
Touring broadcast engineers and live sound engineers deploy EURO-V cases to protect signal processing racks, intercom matrices, and video distribution amplifiers between venues. The sealed, shock-isolated environment ensures equipment arrives in the same operational state it left the workshop, regardless of road conditions or rough cargo handling during transit.
Military and Government Communications
Forward-deployed communications teams configure EURO-V 6U-L cases as self-contained radio relay nodes, housing transceivers, power supplies, and switching gear in a single ruggedised unit. The PRV enables air-deployable configurations, and the rotomoulded polyethylene shell withstands exposure to field chemicals, rain, and rough handling without degradation.
IT Infrastructure and Remote Site Deployment
When deploying temporary or remote computing infrastructure — edge computing nodes, network switches, or storage arrays — the EURO-V 6U-L protects hardware during transit and provides a secure housing during on-site operation. The rack frame remains fully functional inside the closed case, so equipment can operate without removal when conditions demand it.
Compatibility and Ordering Notes
The EURO-V 6U-L is designed for rack panels and chassis complying with the EIA 310-D 19-inch standard. Internal rack depth of 762 mm accommodates most full-depth 1U to 4U servers and telecommunications equipment. For shallower equipment such as patch panels, KVM switches, or 1U amplifiers, the EURO-V 6U-S (610 mm depth) is the appropriate choice. M6 clip nuts and cage nuts for the square-hole rack frame are available separately to match your equipment's mounting thread specification.
