Product overview
The SONLUX POWERTUBE II M is a professional large-area LED luminaire designed to turn temporary lighting into a clean, well-organised work zone. Instead of throwing a narrow beam, it produces a soft 360° light field that surrounds people, tools, pallets, vehicles, and structures. The result is fewer harsh shadows, less “hunting for the dark spot”, and a workspace that stays readable even when the team keeps moving.
This version is made for practical site operation and structured installations at the same time. You get DALI control for integration into a larger lighting plan, plus on/off and dimming via a push-button for quick day-to-day handling. The power connection is built around a Type E+F plug with an IP68-rated plug concept, which adds confidence when conditions are wet, muddy, or unpredictable.
360° illumination that works in real environments
Many work lights behave like spotlights: they overexpose one area and leave deep shadows behind obstacles. POWERTUBE II M is different by design. Light is distributed around the entire tube, with 180° down and 180° up. This helps on uneven terrain, inside industrial halls, between machines, and around temporary barriers. It also helps when you need visibility from more than one direction without relocating multiple fixtures.
Light quality for safety markings and detailed tasks
The luminaire runs at 5000 K, delivering a clear, neutral “daylight” look that supports alertness and accurate visibility. With CRI 80, colours remain reliable for wiring identification, warning labels, safety cones, and tool recognition. The opal polycarbonate cover diffuses the LEDs into a uniform, glare-reduced output, which is easier on the eyes during long shifts and helps reduce reflections on wet asphalt, metal flooring, or glossy indoor surfaces.
Output, efficiency, and the “right size” for mobile teams
POWERTUBE II M sits in the sweet spot between compact fixtures and very large towers. It provides a rated luminous flux of 24,000 lm at 187 W, with a system efficiency of 128 lm/W. That makes it a strong option when you need meaningful coverage, but still want a luminaire that remains easy to transport, mount, and pack down quickly.
Why uniform light often beats maximum brightness
In temporary setups, the goal is rarely a single bright hotspot. The goal is a readable zone where people can move safely, see edges and steps, and work without constant repositioning. The tube format delivers that “usable light” across a wide area. In many situations, it allows you to use fewer luminaires, reduce cable clutter, and simplify the layout of the work site.
DALI control plus push-button dimming
This model supports DALI control, which makes it suitable for professional temporary installations, staged work areas, and repeatable setups where lighting is part of the plan. At the same time, it remains simple to operate: on/off and dimming can be done via a push-button. This is valuable when the team needs fast adjustments on location without additional controllers.
Dimming is not only about comfort. It is also about control: you can reduce glare when the luminaire is close to the work area, lower the output near reflective surfaces, and avoid over-lighting when the zone is partially occupied. It can also help with generator sizing and total site power management.
Rugged construction for transport and repeated deployment
POWERTUBE II M is built for daily handling. The housing is aluminium with a powder-coated finish. The base plate is steel, powder-coated, and equipped with rubber feet for grip and stability. The opal cover is made of impact- and break-resistant polycarbonate, designed to withstand regular repositioning and packing. These material choices support a longer service life in the reality of mobile work.
Protection ratings that match jobsite conditions
The luminaire is rated IP65 for protection against dust and water jets, and IK08 for impact resistance. It is designed for outdoor use, rain and spray, and typical knocks during setup. A filament test rating of 850 °C supports robust material performance in demanding environments.
IP68 plug concept for wet and exposed locations
Temporary lighting often fails at the connection point, especially when the ground is wet or cable routes run through puddles and splash zones. This version is supplied with a Type E+F plug (CEE 7/7) with an IP68-rated plug concept. It is a practical detail for outdoor work, infrastructure maintenance, emergency support, and any situation where moisture exposure is likely. The goal is simple: fewer interruptions and more confidence in harsh conditions.
Mounting options for changing work zones
POWERTUBE II M can be deployed on a tripod (mast), used as a floor lamp, or suspended. The integrated holding sleeve is designed for a 30 mm stand spigot according to DIN 14640, which matches common professional tripods used for large-area lighting. Suspension is useful when you need the floor clear for movement, loading, or safe access routes.
Deployment tips that improve results
- Mount higher on a mast to widen coverage and reduce eye-level glare.
- Dim the output when reflections create discomfort or reduce visibility.
- Use suspension to keep walkways clear and limit trip hazards.
- Keep the diffuser clean to maintain uniform, soft illumination.
- Plan cable routing early to protect connectors and reduce damage.
Electrical planning and inrush behaviour
On temporary grids and generators, inrush current matters. POWERTUBE II M has defined inrush behaviour: 100 A with a duration of 209 µs. This helps when you plan multiple luminaires per circuit. As a practical guideline, you can run up to 3 luminaires on a B10A fuse, up to 5 on a B16A fuse, up to 5 on a C10A fuse, and up to 8 on a C16A fuse. Always apply local electrical rules, cable lengths, and the real condition of the supply network.
