Product overview
The SONLUX POWERTUBE II M is a mobile large-area LED luminaire built for fast, dependable site lighting. Instead of producing a narrow spotlight beam, it creates a soft 360° light field that surrounds people, tools, machines, pallets, and temporary barriers. This helps reduce harsh shadows and makes the whole working area feel more consistent. When crews move around the scene, the light stays usable from every direction, which improves safety and reduces the need to constantly reposition multiple lamps.
This specific version is designed for simple, rugged operation with a toggle switch. You can set the luminaire to off, 180° illumination, or 360° illumination. The 180° mode is ideal when you want to light a defined work face, the edge of a corridor, or a boundary line without wasting light behind the lamp. The 360° mode is the full-area setting for teams working all around the luminaire.
Switchable 180° / 360° lighting
Temporary work zones change during the day. Sometimes you need a controlled half-area light. Sometimes you need full coverage. The POWERTUBE II M gives you both without additional controllers. In 180° mode, the rated luminous flux is 12,000 lm at 94 W. In 360° mode, the luminaire provides 24,000 lm at 187 W. This flexibility helps reduce energy use when full output is not required. It also helps keep glare down in tight spaces or near reflective surfaces.
Why uniform light often beats a bright hotspot
On real sites, the goal is rarely maximum brightness in one point. The goal is a readable environment where edges, steps, cables, and obstacles remain visible. The tube format spreads light smoothly around the scene. Shadows become softer and less distracting. Many teams find they can use fewer fixtures, route fewer cables, and keep walkways clearer.
Light quality for clear visibility
The luminaire runs at 5000 K, producing a clean, neutral “daylight” look that supports alert work and precise visibility. With CRI 80, colours remain reliable for safety markings, wiring identification, labels, and tool recognition. The opal cover is made from impact- and break-resistant polycarbonate. It diffuses the LEDs into a uniform, glare-reduced illumination that is easier on the eyes during long shifts.
Glare and comfort
Glare is a common issue in temporary lighting, especially on wet asphalt, metal surfaces, or glossy indoor floors. The POWERTUBE II M is designed to reduce harsh contrasts. When you work close to the luminaire, the 180° mode is a practical way to keep brightness focused on the work area while reducing unwanted spill.
Rugged construction for daily transport
POWERTUBE II M is designed for frequent deployment. The housing is aluminium with a powder-coated finish. The base plate is steel, powder-coated, and fitted with rubber feet for stability and grip. The diffuser tube is built from durable polycarbonate to handle typical knocks during setup, relocation, and pack-down. This construction supports long-term use in demanding work environments where equipment is moved often.
Protection ratings for jobsite reality
The luminaire is rated IP65 for protection against dust and water jets. It is rated IK08 for impact resistance. This supports use outdoors, in rain and spray, and in dusty industrial areas. The filament test rating of 850 °C supports robust material choices for tough operating conditions.
Mounting options for flexible deployment
POWERTUBE II M can be used on a tripod (mast), as a floor lamp, or suspended. The integrated holding sleeve fits a 30 mm stand spigot according to DIN 14640, which matches common professional tripods for large-area lighting. Floor use is ideal for quick tasks and short interventions. Suspension is useful when floor space must stay clear for movement, loading, or safe access routes.
Placement tips that improve results
- Use a mast when you want wider coverage and fewer shadows.
- Choose 180° mode for corridors and defined work faces.
- Choose 360° mode when teams work around the luminaire.
- Route cables away from walkways to reduce trip hazards.
- Keep the diffuser clean to maintain smooth, uniform output.
Electrical planning and inrush behaviour
Temporary grids and generators can be sensitive to inrush peaks. POWERTUBE II M has defined inrush behaviour, which helps with planning multiple luminaires on one circuit. Inrush current is 100 A with a duration of 209 µs. As a practical guideline, you can operate up to 3 luminaires on a B10A fuse, up to 5 on B16A, up to 5 on C10A, and up to 8 on C16A. Always follow local electrical regulations and consider cable length, supply quality, and real site conditions.
What is included
NOTE: The product includes only the lamp and a textile carrying bag. Masts (tripods) and any additional accessories are sold separately and can be selected as optional accessories.

Where this version fits best
If you want a powerful, uniform area light but also want simple operation, this switch-based version is a strong choice. Use 180° mode to control spill and focus on a defined work area. Use 360° mode when teams work around the luminaire and the zone must remain evenly lit. It is ideal for mobile crews who need speed, clarity, and rugged handling without complex control systems.
