Weather, impact, and pressure: built for the worst

The Peli 1700 is rated watertight, crushproof, and dustproof. The perimeter O-ring seal creates a continuous gasket around the full lid opening, preventing water ingress in rain, spray, or brief submersion. The automatic pressure equalization valve adjusts internal pressure as altitude changes during flight, maintaining the seal integrity without warping the lid or forcing moisture inside.

The shell is injection-moulded from high-impact structural copolymer. An open-cell core within solid outer walls absorbs and distributes impact energy rather than cracking under concentrated load. Rough baggage handling, vehicle transport over uneven terrain, and outdoor use in all weather — the case handles all of it without deforming or losing its seal.

Pick-and-pluck foam — a precise interior for your gear

The With Foam variant includes a 3-piece foam set. The top and bottom layers are pre-cut into a grid of small cubes — the pick-and-pluck format that requires no tools, no cutting, and no special skill. Remove cubes to match the exact profile of your firearm, scope, and accessories, and the foam holds everything in place under shock and vibration. The closed-cell foam does not absorb moisture, does not retain odour, and is resistant to gun oil and cleaning solvents.

If you use a custom insert, suppressor foam, or your own interior system, the No Foam variant gives you a clean shell to work with on your own terms.

Designed for real transport

Long cases are inherently awkward to move. The Peli 1700 addresses this without overcomplicating the hardware. Polyurethane wheels with stainless steel bearings roll smoothly on airport floors and hold steady on rougher outdoor surfaces. When rolling is not practical, the fold-down side handle gives a firm grip for lifting and vertical carrying.

The easy-open double-throw latch system closes with one motion per latch, stays secure without external restraint, and opens quickly without tools. Stainless steel hardware throughout — hinges, latches, and padlock loops — resists corrosion in damp and marine environments far beyond what standard hardware tolerates.
