The Peli 0450 Protector Mobile Tool Chest (GEN 2) protects them, organises them and rolls them straight onto the job — a fully waterproof, crushproof rolling toolbox engineered originally to military specification, now built for mechanics, service technicians, riggers and field crews who can't afford downtime because a drawer jammed or water got into a case. Finished in black polypropylene with stainless-steel hardware throughout, this is the 6-drawer configuration of the 0450 family.

Six Drawers, One Rolling Workshop

Inside, 6 removable tool drawers — 4 shallow drawers for sockets, fasteners and small parts plus 2 deep drawers for bulkier tools — run on an aluminium rail slide system built to take repeated loading without binding. Each drawer glides out to a secure stop for one-handed access and lifts out completely when you need to reposition, empty or clean it, which is useful when a drawer needs replacing on-site rather than sending the whole chest back to the workshop. A removable utility tray sits under the top lid for the tools you reach for most often, keeping them separate from the drawer stack below.

Engineered to Roll, Built to Last

An extendable trolley handle and wide-track, rough-terrain wheels let one person move a fully loaded chest — tools, fasteners and all — across gravel yards, warehouse floors and uneven job sites without lifting it. A secure-stack design means a second case can sit safely on top for transport or storage, so a van or workshop wall can hold more without cases sliding off each other.

Sealed Against the Elements

Watertight polymer O-rings run around both the main lid and the drawer bay, backed by two automatic pressure-equalisation purge valves — one per compartment — that let internal and external pressure balance out after a temperature change or altitude shift without needing to crack the seal open. Hybrid double-throw butterfly latches plus two standard latches keep everything locked down, and extra-large tamper-resistant stainless-steel padlock protectors (8 mm hole diameter) let you secure the chest with your own padlocks on a shared site. The 0450 GEN 2 is submersion-, temperature- and drop-tested from 1.5 m, and rated to operate from -40°C to 88°C — cold-store mornings and midsummer van interiors alike.

A Full Work Surface Wherever You Need One

Open the top lid a full 180° and it locks flat, turning into a work surface rated to hold up to 22 kg — enough for a laptop, a service manual or the part you're currently working on. Extra storage under the top lid (52.3 × 27.0 × 7.6 cm) holds flatter items such as manuals, gauges or spare parts, while three unsealed side pockets keep small, frequently-needed items like fasteners or pens within reach without opening the main case.
