Why Padded Dividers Instead of Pick-N-Pluck Foam

Pick-N-Pluck™ foam works brilliantly for a fixed, permanent loadout — you pluck the foam cubes once to create shaped cavities, and your gear sits perfectly secured. The trade-off is permanence. Once the foam is plucked, it cannot be restored. If your kit changes — a new lens, a different instrument, an additional accessory — you must cut new foam, permanently destroying the existing configuration. Padded dividers solve this completely. Each divider panel attaches via hook-and-loop tape, repositions in seconds without tools, and stays firmly in place during transit. You adapt the interior to today's packing list, then reconfigure it again next week without destroying a single piece of material.

Materials and Construction

The dividers are made from waterproof 230T nylon — a tightly woven technical fabric with a 230-thread-count density that provides genuine tear resistance and moisture rejection. Condensation, rain splash, and the wet surfaces common on field assignments do not penetrate the fabric face.

Each divider is padded with 15 mm of EPE (expanded polyethylene) foam — a closed-cell material that absorbs and dissipates impact energy rather than transmitting it to whatever is on the other side. When your case takes a knock — turbulence, a drop from a tailgate, rough baggage handling — the divider wall absorbs the lateral force and protects your equipment from hard contact. The 15 mm thickness provides adequate cushion for camera bodies, lenses, scientific instruments, and communications equipment typically transported in a carry-on-sized case.

Desert Tan: A Functional Colour

Desert tan is a standard colour in military and law enforcement equipment because it reduces visual contrast in sandy, bright, and high-exposure field environments. For professionals in these contexts, a tan interior helps equipment colour-coding — coloured cable ties, label tape, inventory stickers — read clearly against a neutral background rather than disappearing into black-on-black uniformity.

For photographers and field technicians working in civilian settings, desert tan is equally practical. Compatibility

Designed as a precision fit for the Peli 1510 carry-on case. Confirmed compatible with the Storm iM2500 and Apache 5800 cases, which share closely matched interior dimensions. This set fills the main compartment only — it is not designed for the lid, and does not replace or include the lid’s convoluted foam insert.
