Roll With Confidence
Four heavy-duty polyurethane wheels run on stainless steel bearings — the kind that stay smooth under load and don't seize up after a few thousand kilometres of airport tile. A retractable extension trolley handle lets you pull the fully loaded 1640 with one hand across check-in halls, loading bays, and uneven terrain, while a pair of fold-down handles gives you a firm grip for loading into vehicle trunks or overhead spaces. This is a case that moves the way luggage should, but protects the way a vault does.
Protection That Doesn't Compromise
The 1640 is fully watertight, crushproof, and dustproof. Its open-cell core with solid wall construction keeps weight down without sacrificing rigidity — the case will not flex or buckle when stacked under other cargo. A perimeter O-ring seal locks out moisture in rain, on wet loading docks, or in a leaking cargo hold. The automatic pressure equalization valve prevents the vacuum lock that commonly forms at altitude, so the case opens normally after any flight. Stainless steel padlock protectors reinforce the two latch points against tampering, making the 1640 equally suited to secure checked baggage and locked equipment storage.
Custom Interior With Pick N Pluck™ Foam
Standard configuration ships with a three-layer Pick N Pluck™ foam insert and a convoluted lid foam layer. The Pick N Pluck system lets you remove pre-scored foam cubes one at a time — no cutting tools, no adhesive — to create exactly the right cavity shape for every piece of gear you're carrying. Camera bodies, lenses, mixing consoles, survey instruments, medical devices, firearms: each gets its own snug pocket, seated flush against the foam walls so nothing shifts in transit. If your loadout changes, the foam adapts. The 1640 is also available with pre-cut foam or padded dividers.
Fast Access, Secure Seal
The double-throw latches release with a single hand motion and still hold a watertight seal under pressure. There's no fumbling even when wearing gloves or working in adverse weather. Combined with the padlock protectors, this makes the 1640 a natural fit for broadcast trucks, mobile command units, research vehicles, touring production rigs, and emergency response kits.
