The Peli Air 1705 is a long-format protective solution crafted from Peli's HPX² polymer: it weighs up to 40% less than conventional hard-shell long cases, while absorbing the punishment that airports, cargo holds, backcountry trucks, and boat gunwales routinely deliver. HPX² isn't just lighter — the material stays structurally rigid under crushing loads and remains flexible at extreme temperatures without cracking or becoming brittle. The polymer's internal geometry doesn't trade strength for weight savings: the 1705 Air meets IP67 waterproofing (fully submersible to 1 m) and passes MIL-SPEC and ISTA 2A impact standards. An automatic pressure equalization valve prevents the case from vacuum-sealing at altitude or during rapid weather changes — the lid opens with a clean, deliberate pull, not a wrestling match.

What Fits Inside

Designed for long firearms — AR-15 rifles, personal defence weapons, and breakdown shotguns travel in it as intended. The same interior works equally well far beyond the shooting range:

• Fly fishing expeditions: two or three multi-section rod sets for a flight to Iceland, Norway, or Scotland — packed in their tube cases, without disassembly. Less rummaging, fewer broken tips.

Security and Closure

Two press-and-pull latches require a deliberate two-step movement to open — they will not spring from a bump, drop, or transit vibration. Two stainless-steel padlock protector slots accept standard padlocks for locked checked-baggage compliance. The perimeter O-ring seal runs the full length of the lid, keeping out rain, splashes, and tarmac jet wash. The fold-down overmoulded carry handle sits flush when not in use and gives a firm, comfortable grip when navigating a crowded terminal.
