Moulded from Black-463 blended resin, the BlackBox 3U is substantially lighter than a traditional steel flight case while delivering impact and vibration protection that solid enclosures can't match. The entire rack assembly is isolated from the outer shell by eight cylindrical elastomeric shock mounts, giving your gear 2 inches (5.1 cm) of sway space in every direction. That translates into a payload capacity of up to 45.4 kg with a fragility threshold of 40–80 G — real, measurable protection for equipment that can't afford to arrive damaged.

Built for professionals who move

The 24-inch (61 cm) deep steel rack frame carries 10-32 threaded rails that conform to ANSI/EIA 310-C — the same standard used in fixed installations — so your rack ears fit without adapters, every time. Moulded-in 3.25-inch (82.6 mm) edge casters let you roll heavy payloads across a stage, a loading dock, or a venue forecourt without a hand truck. When you get to your position, both the front lid (2.2 in / 5.6 cm deep) and the rear lid (5.2 in / 13.2 cm deep) are fully removable, giving you clean, unobstructed access to patch bays, cable runs, and equipment rear panels from both sides at once.

Sealed, secured, and stackable

A closed-loop gasket seals the case against dust and moisture, while the pressure relief valve prevents internal pressure build-up during air freight or high-altitude mountain transit. Spring-loaded stainless steel latches — finished in nickel black — close and open without tools and hold firm under transport stress. Moulded-in ribs on the shell create a stacking interlock so multiple units can be stored safely on top of one another backstage or in transit vehicles. Four comfort-grip handles make short carries manageable even when the rack is loaded close to its rated payload.
