Industrial-Grade Protection, Field-Ready Design

The outer shell is moulded from Black-463 blended resin — a high-strength compound that absorbs impact far better than standard polycarbonate while remaining significantly lighter than metal alternatives. Eight cylindrical elastomeric shock mounts are integrated directly into the case shoulders, connecting them to the internal 61 cm (24-inch) steel rack frame and delivering 5.1 cm (2 inches) of sway space on all sides. This isolation system is effective for equipment with fragility ratings of 40–80G — the kind of specification that covers everything from network switches and broadcast encoders to laboratory instruments and scientific measurement systems.

The rack frame itself features 10-32 threaded holes and fully complies with ANSI/EIA 310-C standards, meaning any standard 19-inch equipment installs without adapters. Maximum payload is 45.4 kg — more than enough for a densely populated production rack or a full touring audio rig.

Two-Sided Access for Fast, Clean Workflows

A removable front lid (5.6 cm / 2.2 inches deep) and a deeper removable rear lid (13.2 cm / 5.2 inches deep) allow full access to both ends of the rack without repositioning the case. Cabling, patching, and last-minute equipment swaps can all be done in place — an advantage that becomes obvious when you're working in the back of a broadcast van, under a tight studio ceiling, or against a countdown clock on set.

Moulded-in 3.25-inch (82.6 mm) edge casters on both lids allow the BlackBox 4U to roll smoothly across flat surfaces. Four plastic comfort-grip handles provide secure, ergonomic lift points for stairs, ramps, and vehicle loading.

Sealed Against the Environment, Locked for Transit

A closed-loop perimeter gasket seals the case against dust and moisture, while an integrated pressure relief valve automatically equalises internal pressure during altitude changes — essential for air freight or high-altitude deployments. Spring-loaded stainless steel latches with a nickel black finish lock the case securely without requiring tools. The moulded-in exterior rib design allows multiple BlackBox units to be stacked stably without sliding or shifting in transit.
