Peli BlackBox 7U Rack Mount Case

When high-value rack equipment needs to travel — to a broadcast truck, a satellite uplink station, or a scientific field deployment — it faces vibration, impact, humidity, and pressure changes that consumer-grade solutions simply cannot handle. The Peli BlackBox 7U Rack Mount Case was engineered for exactly these conditions: a fully sealed, shock-isolated mobile environment for 19-inch rack systems, trusted by broadcast engineers, DIT operators, military communications teams, and mobile laboratory technicians worldwide.
Built for Professionals in Demanding Environments
Professional audio/video production units rely on BlackBox cases to transport mixing consoles, multi-track recorders, and signal processors safely to remote sets and live venues. Satellite communication teams deploy them at field operations where equipment failure is not an option. Scientific institutions use them for precision instrumentation in environmental monitoring, seismology, and offshore research. Wherever 19-inch rack equipment leaves the building, a BlackBox earns its place.
Rugged Case Construction
The outer shell is molded from Black-463 blended resin — a compound engineered for outstanding impact resistance, UV stability, and tolerance of extreme temperature swings. A closed-loop gasket creates an airtight and watertight seal, while an integrated pressure relief valve handles altitude changes during air freight without stressing the seal. Spring-loaded stainless steel latches with a nickel black finish snap shut with positive engagement and stay closed under dynamic transport loads. The molded-in rib pattern adds structural rigidity and lets multiple BlackBox units stack securely without shifting.
19-Inch Rack Frame — 24-Inch Usable Depth
The internal steel rack frame, finished in zinc black, runs 24 inches (61 cm) deep — enough for deep server blades, power amplifiers, and signal processors that won't fit in a shallow DIT case. Engineered to the ANSI/EIA 310-C standard, it accepts all standard 19-inch rack equipment and supports a payload of 36.3 to 45.4 kg (80–100 lb). Seven rack units of space give you room for a capable field rig: a mixer, interface, patchbay, and power distribution unit — or a routing switcher with its control layer.
Elastomeric Shock Isolation
Eight cylindrical elastomeric shock mounts, fixed directly to the case shoulders, float the rack frame within 5.1 cm (2 inches) of sway space. This system decouples the rack — and everything bolted to it — from transport vibration and sudden impacts: road shock during overland transit, baggage handling at airports, and the persistent vibration of a generator-powered field site. Hard drives, optical systems, and precision measurement instruments arrive as well-calibrated as when they were packed.
Dual-Side Access and Easy Mobility
Both the front and rear lids are fully removable, giving technicians unobstructed access to the rack from either side for cable management, equipment installation, and on-site troubleshooting. The front lid extends 5.6 cm (2.2 in) deep; the rear lid reaches 13.2 cm (5.2 in) — enough clearance for rear-panel connectors and cable routing. Molded-in 82.6 mm (3.25-inch) edge casters roll smoothly on hard surfaces, and four plastic comfort-grip handles make the loaded case manageable for a two-person team.
