How the air-cushion system works

Instead of a solid wooden block that transmits every impact straight into the load, a Skid-Mate pad compresses under weight and acts like an air cushion. That damping effect is what protects sensitive freight from the shocks and vibration that build up over a long transport route — repeated forklift drops, dock-plate transitions, and rough trailer floors all get absorbed at the pallet base instead of reaching the product inside.

Simple, tool-light installation

Each pad mounts to the pallet base with a single M8 bolt. If you need extra ground clearance, the separate Skid-Mate spacer adds 1 1/8″ of height, bringing the total pad height to 10 centimetres — useful when a pallet truck needs a bit more room to get underneath cleanly.

Skid-Mate pads are rated to withstand being dragged up to 914 metres across concrete and floor joints under maximum load without failing — a realistic stress test for pads that get scraped along loading-dock floors for years.
