Shipping damage usually comes from two things: repeated vibration and sudden impacts. Sensitive loads suffer even when the packaging looks “strong enough”. Skid-Mate Yellow is a reusable damping element that sits between the floor and your pallet base. It works like an air-cushioned isolator, reducing transmitted shocks and vibration during handling and transport. The result is a calmer ride for equipment that dislikes harsh inputs. This is especially useful for electronics, optics, measurement devices, and ruggedized cases on pallets.

This version is the Yellow Skid-Mate with an M8 threaded fitting. It is supplied as the pad only. Screws and the height spacer are not included. The spacer is available as a separate product when you need extra clearance. If you want a clean, consistent mounting standard in Europe, the M8 version keeps everything metric.

Why Skid-Mate changes real transport outcomes

Palletized shipments often see repeated impacts during loading, docking, and forklift moves. Even “small” shocks add up over distance. Skid-Mate reduces peak forces reaching the load by introducing a damped interface at the pallet base. It can also reduce the need for air-ride vans in many common scenarios, because the pallet itself becomes part of the protection system.

Unlike disposable cushioning, Skid-Mate is designed to be reused. It is compact, quick to mount, and consistent in performance when loaded within its target range. Yellow is the sweet spot for many mid-weight loads. It is rated for a load range of 45–80 lb per pad, which equals 20.4–36.3 kg per pad. 

Installation concept for the M8 version

The pad features an M8 fitting, intended for straightforward mounting to a pallet base or a dedicated skid frame. Use appropriate M8 hardware for your base design. Hardware is not included, because mounting methods vary by pallet style, case base, and customer standard. If your build uses a spacer, use the dedicated spacer product. This listing is for the Yellow pad only, without spacer.

How many pads do you need

The common starting point is one pad per corner. Increase pad count when the load is heavier or has a high center of gravity. Keep pad loading within the recommended range. Spread the weight evenly across all pads. This keeps damping performance predictable. Yellow pads are designed to work best when each pad carries about 20–36 kg.

Designed for rough logistics

Skid-Mate is used where forklifts, dock plates, and warehouse floors are part of the daily reality. Each pad is roughly 6 inches in diameter and about 2 7/8 inches tall. In metric terms it is approximately Ø153 mm and about 71–73 mm in height, depending on the listing and measurement method.

The Yellow M8 pad is also designed for demanding environments. These pallet cushions are suitable from -40°C to +54°C and chemical resistant.  That matters when pallets move between cold trucks, warm warehouses, and industrial settings.
