What Fits Inside?

The spacious interior (16.51 × 9.83 × 4.45 cm) accommodates a smartphone, car keys, credit cards, memory cards, small medications, or a compact action camera battery — and still closes flat. Four variants are available to suit your kit: solid black, solid yellow, clear with black rubber, and clear with yellow rubber. Going kayaking and need to spot it fast if it tips? Go yellow.

It Floats — and That Matters

Drop the Peli 1040 into water and it stays on the surface. The case provides 0.57 kg of buoyancy, which is enough to keep it floating until you reach it. The Peli 1040 is a universal case designed around internal dimensions, not a specific handset. The interior measures 16.51 × 9.83 cm, which comfortably fits most compact to standard-size smartphones including modern flagship models. We recommend measuring your phone (without its case) against the interior dimensions to confirm fit before ordering — most phones up to roughly 16 cm tall and 9.5 cm wide slide in without issue.

Construction and Materials

Three-layer construction delivers a combination of lightweight handling and rigid protection. The two-stage latches lock the lid positively and require deliberate effort to release — no accidental openings mid-activity. Stiff hinges keep the lid from flapping. Rounded edges distribute impact forces across the shell rather than concentrating them at corners. Inside, non-slip rubber lining prevents contents from shifting.

All metal hardware — including hinges and latch components — is stainless steel. The GORE-TEX membrane in the pressure equalization valve handles depth and altitude changes automatically, so you don't need to do anything before boarding a flight or going underwater. Interior options: rubber insert (standard), pick & plug foam, or custom-cut foam.
