Air 1615 or Air 1615 TRAVEL?

The standard Air 1615 is an equipment case: you choose the interior (no foam, foam, padded dividers or TrekPak) and build it around long or bulky kit – tripods, light stands, drones, instruments or sports gear. The Air 1615 TRAVEL uses the same shell but is set up as luggage, with TSA-approved locks, an integrated lid organizer and travel pouches in an open base for clothes. If you pack for a trip, choose the TRAVEL; if you pack equipment that needs a fitted interior, choose the standard 1615.

Will the Peli Air 1615 pass as checked baggage?

Its dimensions add up to 157.5 cm – just under the 158 cm linear limit many airlines use for standard checked bags. That is why Peli calls it maximum check-in size: there is no margin left, and airlines with lower limits will treat it as oversized, so check your airline's rules before you fly. Weight is its strong point: with foam it weighs 8.0 kg, leaving about 15 kg of a typical 23 kg allowance for your gear. The 1615 is not a cabin case; if you need a carry-on to go with it, look at the Peli Air 1535.

Peli Air 1615 or Peli 1560?

Both travel as checked baggage, but they suit different loads. The Air 1615 is about 25 cm longer inside than the Peli 1560 (75.2 cm vs 50.6 cm), holds roughly 71 litres instead of 44 litres, and is still lighter empty (6.4 kg vs 7.71 kg). Choose the Air 1615 for long items and maximum capacity within airline limits; choose the 1560 for a more compact, classic Protector case that is easier to fit in a car boot or a vehicle rack.

Which interior is right for you?

Pick N Pluck™ foam suits kit that rarely changes: pluck out the cubes for a fitted cut-out, but plucked cubes cannot be put back cleanly. Padded dividers are quick to rearrange and come in several colours. TrekPak™ uses thin, rigid dividers held by U-pins, losing less space than foam while still being rearranged in minutes. Buy the case with no foam and you can add any of these later. For dedicated kit there are also Air 1615 cases with custom-cut foam, for example for Starlink kits and speed-skating blades.

Accessories and spare parts for the Peli Air 1615

Wear parts can be replaced individually: a left/right wheel assembly set and latch-and-handle sets in several colours. The Peli AIRHANDL EZ-Pull™ multi-stage handle replaces the standard trolley handle, either as a part or fitted before shipping. Interiors can be swapped at any time – a replacement foam set, a coloured lid foam, padded dividers and the TrekPak kit. For the lid there are mesh-pocket organizers and laptop organizers for 13″ and 14–16″ devices.
